At the November 12 City Council meeting, Mayor Annette C. Delgadillo presented LA Kings Iceland at Paramount with the Mayor’s Gold Key Award. Iceland has been a Paramount landmark since it first opened on January 3, 1940. It cost 20 cents to skate at what was then one of the largest ice-skating rinks in the country. Iceland has gone through many transformative changes since then, and in 2022 the venerable rink was acquired by the LA Kings organization, which has had a great, positive impact on our community. They offer a popular learn-to-skate program throughout the year, and they have shown great generosity by offering free or discounted skate lessons and hosting open houses for newcomers. Recently, they offered a free fieldtrip to a class of 25 students from Alondra Middle School, and the students enjoyed a free skating lesson. As members of the Paramount Chamber of Commerce, they also volunteer their time to serve the community and support other businesses in Paramount. Thank you so much for all the wonderful ways in which you support Paramount! https://www.paramountchamber.com/wp-content/uploads/PBDec-website-revised.pdf
